Introducing Movie Reviewer Coach Patton
My dad and his buddies have an email circle going where they share their thoughts on life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and a whole lot of other topics. My dad often forwards the messages to me, which is how I came to know about Doug "Coach" Patton and his thoughtful movie reviews. I liked them so much I asked if he would let me post them as part of this blog.
I'm pleased to announce that he agreed! You'll find them listed under the category "From Where I Sat." You can also access a list of titles from the Movie Reviews link on the navigation bar, or from the "About this Site" box on the front page of this blog. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Please allow me to officially introduce Coach Patton:
As a young boy growing up in Colorado, Doug Patton had a strong interest in motion pictures. For five years, from 8th grade through high school, he worked part time for the local movie house--and saw every movie that came to town. His interest in films has never flagged.
From 1965-1998, Patton worked internationally for major, independent, and state oil companies as a project manager/engineer. During years of overseas travel he managed to watch a great number of movies (some of them pirated, most of them not, however). And when he came back to the States he did double time at the movies trying to catch up. Cable movies were a god-send to him. Now Netflix is his manna from heaven.
In addition to his oil industry work, Patton has co-founded and operated a software services company, designed web sites, and been involved in writing, applying for, and testing procedures for patents. He was a technical writer and lecturer much of his career, and has now turned his writing skills towards the movies.
Patton has a Professional Degree (Masters) of Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. Coach Patton is only one of his many pen names. How many others can you find tucked away in his reviews?
