A Day of First Rounds

While most of France headed for the voting booths to cast their ballots in the first round presidential elections, a few intrepid expats headed for a rehearsal studio to participate in the first round of auditions for Théàtre du Monde's upcoming script readings. And what a great turn-out it was! I was impressed by the quality of talent our project has managed to attract. It truly was inspiring to see so many serious and experienced actors turn up for our little labor of love. Thanks to them, the readings are shaping up to be everything we hoped they would be.

The most fun part for me was watching my partner in this venture, Fawn Wilderson-Legros, direct. She's got a great feel for the material and, as an actress herself, respects actors and knows how to coax great performances out of them.

As a writer, it was also fun seeing actors bringing one of my scenes to life. It played amazingy well, with the exception of one little bit of dialogue. Every actress who read it stumbled on it, so clearly it needs a rewrite! Just a tad of wordsmithing so that it flows more smoothly.

Most parts have been filled, but we're still looking for a few more people. We'll be holding a second audition on Wednesday April 25th. Again, if you're interested, drop me an email.
